Job interview: Pre-arrival check list

Before you go dashing out that door, wait. Have you checked you have everything with you? Here's a simple check list to work through:

  • Make sure that you have your Interview Folder complete with hard copies of your resume, certificates and other supporting information i.e. documents that you may need to distribute during the interview.

  • Take with you any back up research material and / or reports that may be used as reference material.

  • If relevant - ensure that any electronic devices (ipad, netbook, chrome etc) have enough charge for the presentation.

  • Take a copy of the advertised job description, useful for clarification purposes. H
  • Notes to help you in interview. Also, make sure that you have a working pen and some paper to take notes on; never go into a job interview / meeting without anything to write on, or to write with.
  • Ensure that you have the correct business address, including No. & floor level. There's nothing worse than finding out the company or division has moved six months ago. Take a suitable contact number for any last minute problems.

Remember, it's all too easy to get caught out by the most basic of mistakes, especially when you are in a rush! Create your own checklist and make sure that you use it!
